Chastity Cage Guide: Overview of the tested chastity devices.

All information without guarantee; prices and availability can change quickly.

  • Chastity cages for sissies / TVs / crossdressers (coming soon)
This category is all about devices that help you turn into a cute cock girl. These cages are often especially small so that your cock shrinks down to clit size. Almost all “clitty cages” are available in pink.
  • Plastic chastity cages (coming soon)
Some plastic chastity cages already appear in the sissy category. Because they’re not only available in pink, these devices also work for subs who don’t identify with the sissy theme.
  • Chastity cages with electro function (coming soon)
You love electro play and get excited about the possibilities the internet offers – for example online training under your keyholder’s control? Then this category is especially interesting for you.
  • Metal chastity cages (coming soon)
You love the weight of stainless steel or titanium on your penis? In this category you’ll find cages made of stainless, rust-free metal.
  • Chastity cages for masochists (coming soon)
You want to increase the sweet pain of chastity even more – for example by having spikes dig into your sinful flesh? Then this category is for you.
  • Chastity cages for subs with a Prince Albert piercing (Abbreviation: PA) (coming soon)
If you have a PA piercing, there are special chastity cages that make use of this feature to lock you up especially securely.
  • Full belts and custom-made devices (coming soon)
So far we’ve only talked about “shells” – cages without a belt. A full belt is a chastity device with a waist belt. You’ll get to know these models in the last category. Security is much higher here, but usually so are the hygiene requirements and, accordingly, the price.
  • Accessories and ideas for chastity play (coming soon)

Concept: What do you need a chastity cage for?

The basic concept of a chastity device is to prevent access to the penis. This kink is very popular in BDSM. The keyholder decides whether the chastity sub is unlocked or not. This creates a deliberate shift of power.

It’s also possible to keep yourself chaste, to have no keyholder, and not even be into BDSM. One reason for this kind of self-chastity could be, for example, to curb compulsive masturbation and be able to focus better on work.

There are also chastity belts for women, but this buying guide focuses exclusively on devices for men.

Chastity terminology explained.

24/7: The concept of wearing a chastity device 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

A-ring: The ring is part of the chastity cage. It sits behind the testicles and fixes the device in place.

BDSM: Umbrella term for a group of sexual preferences around sadomasochism, often shortened to SM or BDSM.

Dilator: Some chastity cages are equipped with a (often screw-in) urethral dilator that is meant to provide additional stimulation but also helps prevent “escape”. The dilator is inserted into the urethra. Another word for this is penis plug. In principle a dilator can be worn 24/7 – but it must be cleaned regularly (beware of infections, cystitis, urinary tract infections, epididymitis).

You should also already have experience with plugs and widen the urethra slowly. Going from zero to 24/7 is not a good idea. For many chastity subs, a plug is a punishment they can only tolerate for a few hours.

Femdom: Dominant woman.

Mistress: The leading, decision-making part in a BDSM dynamic.

Keyholder: The person who owns the key to the cage.

CB: Abbreviation for chastity belt. In everyday language “chastity belt” is used broadly for all models that serve chastity – including cages and shells. Strictly speaking, that’s not precise. Taken literally, a chastity belt is a device that includes a belt around the waist.

PA wearer: PA is short for Prince Albert – an intimate piercing that goes from the urethra through the underside of the penis and is usually worn with a ring. For people with a PA piercing there are special options and models for chastity. This form of chastity is especially secure.

Chastity cage: Chastity device with a cage-like design, usually with bars or a grid.

Penis plug: Another word for dilator; see “dilator”.

Shell / chastity shell: The shell covers the genitals and is characterized by the fact that it has no belt. If the shell has a belt, it becomes a chastity belt.

Keyholder: The person who has the key to the cage.

Sissy: A cock girl, shemale, or crossdresser. Sissies are women with a little extra – a penis. They often wear pink, feminine, sexy outfits. Wigs and high heels help enhance the feminine look. Cock girls usually love showing off their penis in a compact, pink chastity shell.

Sub/slave: The submissive part in a BDSM dynamic.

Partial belt: Chastity device without a belt.

TV maid: A feminized maid in service role.

Full belt: Chastity device with belt. Much more escape-proof than a shell, but also harder to clean, less comfortable, and more expensive.

Chastity in history: how did the chastity cage develop?

History: who invented the chastity belt?

One story says the Doges of Venice invented the chastity belt to force prostitutes to pay their taxes. Another story comes from an Austrian antiques collector who claimed that in 1889 he found a leather-and-iron belt on the skeleton of a woman in a cemetery.

There are plenty of stories – but hardly any proof. Even the exhibits displayed in museums usually turn out, on closer inspection, not to be from the Middle Ages but from the nineteenth century.

At that time the chastity belt was particularly well known in England. English maids would sometimes voluntarily wear a belt to protect themselves from rape. Belts were also used on teenagers to prevent masturbation, which was considered sinful and “unhealthy” at the time.

A lot has changed since then – thankfully. Today chastity belts and cages are mainly used and appreciated in BDSM. They exist in countless variations. What developed only slowly at first is now extremely diverse and a bit confusing. But don’t worry – our chastity cage guide and buying advice are here to help you choose.

What reasons are there to wear a chastity cage?

First, get clear on why you want to wear a chastity device, how long you want to wear it, in what context, and for what purpose. Here’s a list of common reasons to wear a chastity cage. Which of these is yours?

  • Compulsive, excessive masturbation is stopped by the chastity cage.
  • The cage helps the man save his sexual energy and potency for his keyholder.
  • By wearing the cage, the sub hands control over to his Mistress and enjoys that feeling.
  • The sub wants to please his Mistress and gift her his power over him.
  • The cage intensifies feelings of helplessness and submission toward his Mistress.
  • When the chastity slave is finally allowed to come again, the orgasm is especially intense.
  • While in chastity, the sub pays more attention to his keyholder.
  • Orgasms and sex are reserved for alpha men – slaves belong in chastity.
  • The chastity cage reminds the sub that it’s never about his pleasure – it’s always about the Mistress’s pleasure.
  • The cage is a sign that the sub is the Mistress’s property and no longer has the right to make independent decisions about his sexuality.
  • It’s a personal challenge.

What reasons do keyholders have for keeping someone chaste?

Now let’s flip perspectives in our chastity cage guide: what goes on in the keyholder’s mind when she holds the key to a chastity cage and keeps a man locked up? What is her motivation, what are her reasons? Below are a few real-life statements from keyholders.

“I keep my sub chaste because I love having power over him. I enjoy being the one who decides. He belongs to me and the chastity cage makes that crystal clear.”

Keyholder

“Because it’s so powerful and arousing.”

Keyholder

“For me it’s incredibly exciting to keep my sub in a chastity cage. It’s a constant thrill to hold the key. When I wear it at my anklet, it makes me really horny. It feels amazing to know that he depends on me. I am his queen, and I decide if, when, and how he’s allowed to come. That’s just mega hot.”

Chastity Cage Guide: all about cages.

What materials are chastity cages made of?

Most chastity cages are made of stainless steel, titanium, or plastic. Stainless-steel models are heavier than silicone or polycarbonate devices. Titanium weighs only about half as much as steel. A big advantage of many metal cages is better air circulation. Plastic cages often encase the penis completely, while metal cages usually consist of bars that let air flow around the penis.

If you only wear the cage during a scene, air circulation isn’t a big deal. But if you plan to wear it for more than a few hours, good ventilation becomes very important. Choose either a metal cage with bars or a plastic cage with ventilation holes. That makes cleaning easier and reduces sweat and odor.

Always make sure your device is made of hypoallergenic materials to avoid allergic reactions. If you have sensitive skin, this is especially important. Hypoallergenic means that metal cages are free of chromium and nickel and that plastic cages contain no chemicals known to trigger allergic reactions.

What is the right size for a chastity cage?

A cage should fit snugly, but never too tight. If your chastity device cuts off blood flow, it can hurt and even cause injury. On the other hand, your cock shouldn’t have so much room that it can freely expand. The cage’s job is to prevent erections. In a properly fitted device, the penis can’t stand up – it’s forced down and held in place.

Most cages are between about 2.6 and 9 cm long. Measure your penis when it’s completely flaccid.

Tip – most common mistake: many chastity subs choose a cage that is way too big. They drastically overestimate their size. Look at your penis when it’s soft – not when it’s hard.

How many base rings should a cage come with?

Most chastity devices come with 3 to 5 base rings. Some models only include one ring, which you choose when ordering. Ring diameters usually range between about 3.6 cm and 5.5 cm. The wearing comfort is very different with a tight vs. a loose ring, so you should try each ring.

The more rings a cage comes with, the better – it increases the chances that one of them will fit you perfectly. A ring that is too tight can restrict blood flow and cause pain. A ring that is too loose can cause the device to slip and maybe even allow the penis to slide out. Somewhere between these extremes you’ll find your ideal ring. If none of them work, a custom-made device may be the only solution.

What types of locks do chastity cages have?

What would a prison cell be without a lock? A chastity cage only makes sense if you can lock it. There are models with small padlocks and models with integrated locks. In our view, integrated locks are a very positive development. They improve comfort and make it easier to wear the cage discreetly in everyday life.

Bulky padlocks can at least be replaced with smaller, more delicate ones – but you have to buy those separately.

What colors do chastity cages come in?

The most common “color” is no color at all – transparent is extremely popular and therefore widely available. Pink is increasingly common too (especially loved by sissies). Many cages are available in black, red, or silver. Beyond that the selection becomes smaller. Some brands try to stand out with wood-look or gold-look designs.

FAQs: common questions about chastity

How do I start with chastity?

The most important rule: take it slow. From what we see, about 80% of chastity subs overdo it early on and then feel frustrated when they can’t keep going as long as they had hoped. Almost no beginner can suddenly put on a cage and live in chastity for many days in a row. Don’t expect that from yourself. Start slowly and choose a pace that feels good and arousing. For example:

Wear the cage for 30 minutes. The next day, 1 hour. Then 1.5 hours. Then 2 hours. And so on. Work your way up gradually. And be wary of keyholders who want to lock you for four weeks straight from day one. That might work for very experienced chastity subs, but almost never for beginners.

Don’t push yourself too hard or you risk losing interest altogether. Chastity is absolutely about pleasure – the pleasure of wanting and not being allowed.

So: start small, stay humble, and be consistent.

What should I do if my chastity cage hurts?

Surprisingly many chastity subs believe they have to endure physical pain just because the keyholder wants it that way. That’s not true. Chastity is about mental torment, not physical harm. If the cage pinches, if your balls hurt, or if your penis is painfully squeezed, there’s only one option: unlock immediately. Out of the device, out of the pain. Right away. That’s what your emergency key is for (hopefully).

Agree with your keyholder beforehand that you are allowed to unlock yourself immediately if you feel physical pain. Ask for an emergency key. Don’t be ashamed or disappointed if you have to unlock earlier than planned. It actually shows responsibility when you stop at pain. Anything else is just stupid – and you’re not stupid, right?

Afraid your Mistress will scold you? Then feel free to show her our chastity cage guide. Lady Sas & Team said it. See? Now it’s our “fault”, not yours. Nice, isn’t it?

Is permanent chastity a good idea?

We often hear slaves say they want to be kept chaste permanently (24/7) – never allowed to come again. Yes, you read that right: never. In our opinion, that’s pure fantasy and neither desirable nor realistic in practice. A responsible keyholder shouldn’t grant such a wish. Because permanent chastity could lead to something else that’s permanent: loss of potency.

The male sexual system needs regular training, much like a muscle. Otherwise it can atrophy – which would be a shame. After all, there’s hardly a more honest compliment for a woman than a hard cock. The famous “morning wood” exists for a reason: it trains erectile function.

What does this mean for you? It means that the keyholder should make sure her chastity sub is unlocked regularly and can get hard. For example through tease and denial – see our detailed Tease and Denial Guide.

It also means the sub should be allowed to come regularly. What “regular” means is up for debate. For one sub it might be once a week; for another it might be once a month. Once a year, however, is – in our view – not enough to reliably prevent weakening of the sexual system.

We don’t want to hide the fact that some people believe long-term chastity has no negative effect on potency. We disagree. In the end everyone has to decide for themselves. We recommend not overdoing it and keeping your chastity play within reasonable limits.

Are there scientific studies on male chastity?

There’s another angle that argues for letting a chastity sub come regularly. Studies have shown that frequent ejaculation reduces the risk of developing prostate cancer. Every year, over 60,000 new cases of prostate cancer are diagnosed in Germany alone.

Jennifer Rider from the Harvard School of Public Health reported in the journal “European Urology” that a high ejaculation frequency reduces the chances of a tumor forming. Her study is based on health data from 32,000 men. According to the study, the risk of prostate cancer also drops when men reduce red meat, animal fats, and dairy products and eat more fruits and vegetables instead.

Duration of chastity – how long is “long”?

This is highly individual. For one sub, two days are already a challenge; another will only hit their limit after two weeks or two months. There are also subs who have been in a cage for half a year and feel surprisingly comfortable with it.

In general we’re not big fans of competition along the lines of “the longer chaste, the better.” What matters is that the duration fits the sub and matches the type of relationship or training the keyholder wants to create.

Lady Sas knows that chastity subs often don’t get much out of general statements like that. They want concrete numbers, they want comparisons. No problem – you shall have them. Lady Sas loves keeping her sub Toytoy chaste and documents his chastity journey online.

Lady Sas is not interested in reducing the number of orgasms from year to year. Quite the opposite: she wants her slave to be allowed to come and not become impotent. But: he should never know when she will grant release. She wants to be maximally unpredictable. Sometimes she’s in the mood to let him come, sometimes she isn’t.

How can I stay chaste longer without cheating?

Subs who struggle to stay obedient during chastity can ask their Mistress for distraction. From our experience it helps when they focus on non-sexual tasks: cleaning, washing, ironing, and so on.

The opposite happens when the Mistress bombards the slave with sexual stimuli – for example by walking around in sexy fetish outfits or having him clean her high heels. Then it becomes extremely hard for the slave to hold out.

A fun game in this context is to unlock the slave and let him masturbate. Right before he’s about to climax, he gets locked back in. The frustration makes it very clear who’s really in charge.

What does chastity do to a sub?

In general, chastity is an excellent way to truly train and condition subs. If even small mistakes push back their release date by another week, they will try twice and three times as hard to please their Mistress. Subs who go through this kind of training become deeply submissive and devoted. They also take punishment more calmly and focused.

Empathy is crucial to avoid crashes. The Mistress has to sense how her slave is doing and whether he’s stable. Chastity places high demands on both body and mind. It’s the Mistress’s responsibility not to overdo it. This game is not without risks.

How do I clean myself and my chastity cage?

If you don’t wash, unpleasant smells will appear quite quickly. Thorough cleaning in the morning and evening is essential. A full bath with lots of foam works very well because everything gets nicely soaked. You can also get good results in the shower if you take your time and put in some effort.

You can use a cotton swab to help reach tight spots. Some slaves can pull their penis out of a shell-style cage while it remains locked behind the balls. For cleaning – especially in the shower – we consider this acceptable, because hygiene comes first. Of course, the time out of the tube must be strictly limited and you must not masturbate.

In the shower, let some shower gel run into the tube of the cage, move it around a bit, and spread the gel – if needed – with the cotton swab. Then rinse thoroughly with the showerhead. Use high water pressure so all the soap is flushed out.

Pay special attention to hygiene under the foreskin. Then dry yourself carefully. You can use a hair dryer to dry your cock – set it to lukewarm air. Especially with steel cages it gets very uncomfortable very quickly if the air is too hot. See this as inspiration: with hygiene you simply have to experiment.

How does a chastity sub get released?

When release is finally granted, it should be properly celebrated. The act of coming is usually very quick, so it’s the Mistress’s job to slow things down and make it an experience. The slave should be able to consciously feel, enjoy, and remember the orgasm.

Good to know: he usually can’t do that on his own. If the Mistress simply lets the slave go at it, things will be over very fast. The chastity sub is starving for release and can’t wait to relieve the pressure. Understandable – but not very satisfying.

So our advice is: the Mistress should control the climax. We recommend long, intense teasing that finally culminates in a mind-blowing orgasm.

If he is only allowed a ruined orgasm, the sub is out of luck and has to wait again. Nice.

More FAQs

What is a chastity cage and what is it used for?

A chastity cage is a device that blocks physical access to the penis and prevents full erections. In BDSM, it’s used to shift control and power: the keyholder decides if and when the sub is unlocked or allowed to orgasm. Some people also use chastity cages outside of BDSM to curb compulsive masturbation and focus better on everyday life.

Is chastity only for hardcore BDSM players?

No. Chastity is popular in BDSM, but you don’t have to be a hardcore player to explore it. Many couples use a chastity cage as a playful tool to build anticipation, deepen trust, and explore light power exchange. Others practice self-chastity without a keyholder, for discipline, focus, or personal growth.

How do I choose the right size for my chastity cage?

Measure your penis in a completely flaccid state and compare it with the inner length of the cage. The device should fit snugly without cutting off circulation and without giving your cock so much space that it can fully harden. Most cages are between about 2.6 and 9 cm long. A common beginner mistake is choosing a cage that is far too large.

Which materials are best for a chastity cage?

The most common materials are stainless steel, titanium, and plastic. Metal cages tend to be heavier and often allow better air circulation thanks to open bars. Plastic cages are lighter and can fully encase the penis. For longer wear, good ventilation and easy cleaning are crucial. Always choose hypoallergenic materials, especially if you have sensitive skin or metal allergies.

How many base rings should a good chastity cage include?

Most quality cages come with 3–5 base rings in different diameters. This is ideal, because you can experiment and find the ring that holds the device securely without pinching. A ring that is too tight can impair blood flow; a ring that is too loose can cause slipping or even allow the penis to escape.

How do I start with chastity play as a beginner?

Start slowly and build up your tolerance step by step. For example: 30 minutes on day one, 1 hour on day two, then 1.5 hours, 2 hours, and so on. This way your body and mind can adapt to the new sensations. Long initial lockups of several days or weeks usually overwhelm beginners and lead to frustration instead of fun.

What should I do if my chastity cage hurts?

Stop immediately. Chastity play is about mental teasing and control, not physical damage. If the cage pinches, your balls hurt, or your penis is painfully squeezed, you should unlock right away and remove the device. Agree with your keyholder in advance that you may always use an emergency key if you feel pain, numbness, or circulation issues.

Is permanent chastity healthy?

A fantasy of “forever locked” may be exciting, but in practice it’s rarely realistic or healthy. The male sexual system, like a muscle, needs regular activity. Long-term total abstinence can potentially weaken potency. Many keyholders therefore plan regular unlocks, hard-ons, and orgasms—either full or ruined—so the sub’s body stays healthy even while his mind is thoroughly teased.

Are there medical findings about ejaculation frequency and health?

Some studies suggest that frequent ejaculation can reduce the risk of prostate cancer. For example, research based on thousands of men indicates a lower risk in those who ejaculated more often over the course of their lives. This doesn’t mean you have to avoid chastity, but it does argue for regular, planned release instead of extreme, never-ending denial.

How long can I safely stay locked in a chastity cage?

That depends heavily on the individual, the device, and hygiene. For some subs, two days are already intense; others can wear a well-fitted, clean cage for weeks or months. Instead of chasing record numbers, focus on what fits your body, daily life, and relationship. Increase durations slowly and check regularly for skin irritation, pain, or circulation problems.

Why do keyholders enjoy keeping someone chaste?

Many keyholders love the feeling of power and responsibility that comes with owning the key. The cage is a physical symbol of control: it shows that the sub’s sexuality belongs to the Mistress. For some, just feeling the key on a necklace or anklet is incredibly arousing—a constant reminder that someone’s pleasure depends entirely on their decision.

How do I keep my chastity cage hygienic?

Daily cleaning is essential, especially for long-term wear. A thorough wash in the morning and evening—ideally with warm water and mild soap—prevents unpleasant odors and infections. Use the showerhead and, if needed, cotton swabs to reach tight spots and under the foreskin. Make sure everything is completely rinsed and dried afterwards; lukewarm air from a hair dryer can help, especially with metal cages.
