From the U.S. to Paris, Inanna Justice has spent nearly a decade shaping France’s kink and BDSM landscape — not only as a professional Dominatrix, but as a community builder, event organizer and filmmaker. In this candid conversation, she shares how she moved from exploring kink to embracing her role as a Domme, what life and work look like in Paris under the Nordic model, and why building inclusive spaces matters. Lady Sas: Dear Inanna, You are originally from the USA and have been living in France for almost 10 years now. How did that come about?

Inanna Justice: I half jokingly say that I came for food, wine, and sex, and there’s some truth in that. The longer story is that I have French heritage, and due to several big changes in my life in my mid-thirties, I wanted to reconnect with my roots. I bought a one-way ticket, thinking I would stay six months, and here I am ten years later. 

Lady Sas: Please describe us how you became a dominatrix. How did your interest develop?

Inanna  Justice: I’ve always had a very rich sexuality, enjoying activities that I now see had elements of kink, but it wasn’t until quite late (around 2011) that I discovered the term BDSM. While I had already been going to sex clubs for some time, that was when I became more involved in the kink scene and actively looking for play parties and kinky partners (and my discovery of FetLife, which opened up a whole new world!).

I was interested in exploring all aspects of my sexuality and played as both a top and a bottom for some time before realising that my masochistic desires could be explored without subbing. I never had any submissive fantasies, but I did explore receiving quite a bit, which I believe better helps me understand how my subs feel during our sessions. I’m a thrill-seeker, and BDSM offers me a way to explore intense sensations on a regular basis.

In my vanilla life, I managed teams in a male-dominated field, and thrived on the power of being a leader. Coupled with my strong personality and desire to lead, I found myself moving more towards the top role. There was a big shift for me around 2017 or 2018 where I started identifying as a Domme and not just a top. I think that’s something that many people confuse, but that’s a subject for another time. 

Interview with Dominatrix Inanna Justice

Lady Sas: What is life like in Paris for a professional dominatrix? Are there government controls and do you need a special work permit as a dominatrix?

Inanna  Justice: We are a Nordic model country, which means being a Dominatrix (or doing any other type of sex work) is legal, but criminalises the purchase of sexual services and the clients of sex workers. You might say that this model is good for sex workers, but in fact, it causes a lot of problems.

There are no social protections for us, we can’t work together (so no commercial dungeons, which can offer safer spaces for both workers and clients), we cannot screen our clients thoroughly (this is especially harmful for at-risk or survival sex workers), it contributes to the stigma attached to sex work, and studies show that the Nordic model pushes trafficked workers further underground. I could go on about the downfalls of the Nordic model, but instead invite readers to read more about decriminalization vs. legalisation of sex work. 

About her BDSM events

Lady Sas: You organize BDSM events. Please give us an example. What happens at these events and who participates?

Inanna  Justice: I have so many projects, and event organisation is a large part of the work that I do to bring people together to celebrate sexuality in all its forms. I would go so far as to say that creating kinky communities is one of my core kinks.

I am the president of Kinky Saloon France, which organises a monthly play party, workshops on safer play, and more. The Kinky Saloon is open to everyone, and we strive to have an inclusive environment where everyone feels welcome to express themselves as they like. 

I’m also the founder and host of France FemDom, the first international, three-day femdom even in France, which just celebrated the second edition in June 2025. France FemDom is geared towards dominant femme-identifiying people, offering us an elegant weekend complete with a day of workshops, a private cruise, and a gala evening with performances and a play party to finish things off. 

With my partner, we’ve recently started a new project, the Paris Kinky Creators Hub. It’s a sort of munch where content creators (models, Dom·mes, online content creators, cameramen, video editors, sound engineers, costume designers, and everyone else involved in content creation) come together and give a one-minute presentation of who they are, what they have to offer, and what they need from the community.

Some wonderful collaborations have already come out of the project! We are planning on doing some artist residences, and have plans to do an alternative porn film festival in January 2027. 

Lady Sas: What tips do you have for women who want to explore their dominant side but are still a little hesitant?

Inanna  Justice: Do your reading and research! Communicate with your partner, see what feels good to start with. Take your time before diving in deeply. Once you’ve established that you do want to take more control, whether that’s just in the bedroom once in a while or in a full-time FLR (female-led relationship), reach out to other women who are doing the same thing.

As I mentioned, I believe in the power of community, and learning from others is a great way to avoid problems. You can also solicit a coach to help guide you, there are some wonderful Dommes that offer the possibility to take classes for either soft skills (the psychology of kink) or hard skills (learning how to properly tie someone or proper impact zones, for example).

Make sure that it’s someone with a good reputation and who embodies a philosophy that you believe in… and also be critical, using multiple sources to glean information. I offer both online and in-person coaching for those who want to explore their kinky side. I also highly recommend going to munches and play parties, where you can meet people and help define your own personal Dominatrix style.

Lady Sas: How do you spend your free time?

Inanna  Justice: What free time?! With so many projects, I stay quite busy. When I do have a bit of time for myself, it’s usually spent in the kitchen. I love to cook, and my knife skills in the dungeon are proof of that. I enjoy traveling and reading, as well. 

Lady Sas: What are your plans for the future?

Inanna  Justice: This year, I’m focusing on the production of a feature-length documentary about my life, The Heart of a Dominatrix (the title is based on a book I published in 2022, entitled The Heart of the Dominatrix, which features interviews with 21 women from around the world). The film is scheduled to be released in December 2025.

I’m also putting a lot more energy into the creation of ethical, feminist, kinky porn. Last year, the two shorts that I produced (The Ritual and The Wrong Airbnb) were selected for 14 festivals around the world. Cultivating my creative side has become a priority for me recently, and I hope to express my vision of femdom through film. Readers can view my films here. 

As I mentioned, I’m also in the beginning stages of organising an alternative porn festival in Paris, which we plan to host in January 2027. Currently I’m looking for funding and collaborations for the project, which promises to be another excellent way for me to build community in France and beyond.
