Cassandra van Cane is a captivating young Mistress whose presence alone can leave submissives breathless. She describes herself as “curious, demanding, sadistic, and untouchable” — a fascinating combination. If you ask around, you’ll hear nothing but praise for this rising dominatrix. Her mentor, Mistress Ariadne, once remarked that finding a talented young Mistress is like searching for a needle in a haystack. Cassandra van Cane, she says, is exactly that rare needle.
Working in Zurich and Winterthur, Cassandra van Cane offers a unique perspective on BDSM in Switzerland. In this interview, she talks about her beginnings as a dominatrix, the appeal of female domination, and how she experiences the Swiss BDSM scene today.
BDSM in Switzerland: Cassandra van Cane on Female Domination and Control
Lady Sas: Dear Cassandra van Cane, “cane” is the English word for a rod or cane. Does your name reflect a particular fondness for it? Or is it perhaps a reference to Cassandra Cain, the DC Comics character who becomes Batgirl? What is the story behind your name?
Lady Cassandra van Cane: You’ve actually hit the mark on both counts. Finding a name for yourself is not always easy, so I started playing around with words and names. Cassandra was already set. But by itself it did not feel unique enough. A friend of mine then came up with a brilliant idea: “Hey, Cassandra Cain is Batgirl, and Cain sounds like Cane. That’s really cool and fits you perfectly!” That is how my name came about.
Lady Sas: How did you become a dominatrix?
Lady Cassandra van Cane: Until then, I had only explored my passion and gained experience in my private life. However, the profession of a dominatrix had always fascinated me. Encouraged by my partner at the time, I decided to contact a few Mistresses and studios and ask whether I could get a glimpse into the profession. I even discovered that some people offer “training” to become a dominatrix.
My first attempt was a complete disaster. The first location I visited felt more like a brothel than what I would consider a professional BDSM studio. They immediately tried to convince me that without intercourse there would be no customers. Needless to say, I left as quickly as possible.
I kept searching and eventually got incredibly lucky. I came into contact with Mistress Ariadne, who told me from the very beginning that being a dominatrix is not something you can truly learn. It is a passion you carry within yourself. If that passion is missing, even the best rope techniques and whip skills will not help.
She warmly invited me to her private studio, “Der Keller,” where I met her in person. The first person to greet me there was her accomplice, Lady Maat, who remains a wonderfully inspiring person to this day.
The conversation with both of them was incredibly insightful, and the very next day I was allowed to observe a session. After that, I was completely hooked and even more fascinated by this world than before. From there, everything happened very quickly. I was fortunate enough to receive coaching from Mistress Ariadne, which ultimately enabled me to work as a dominatrix myself.
Lady Sas: What excites you about being a Mistress and training submissives?
Lady Cassandra van Cane: What excites me is seeing someone become completely like wax in my hands, surrendering themselves to me, letting go, allowing me to guide them, or simply enduring things for my amusement. I also enjoy pushing my submissives to their limits and exploring those boundaries again and again. But the most beautiful thing, in my opinion, is witnessing the loyalty and devotion of one’s slaves.

“It Excites Me to See Someone Become Like Wax in My Hands.”
Lady Sas: You openly show your face on your website. How does your private circle react to your work as a dominatrix?
Lady Cassandra van Cane: Fortunately, my private circle is very open-minded. Hardly anyone close to me shares these interests, but they are always curious and genuinely interested in what I do.
Lady Sas: What can you tell us about BDSM in Switzerland? How do Swiss people generally view it?
Lady Cassandra van Cane: I am actually German myself and live right on the Swiss border. From my experience so far, Swiss people are generally very open-minded when it comes to BDSM.
Lady Sas: What do you feel when a session goes particularly well?
Lady Cassandra van Cane: Satisfaction! It is pure satisfaction for me when I can say goodbye to a happy guest. I chose to work as a dominatrix out of genuine passion, and I want my guests to feel that.

How Open Is Switzerland Toward BDSM?
Lady Sas: Your website does not include a list of BDSM activities or services you offer. That is unusual in the BDSM industry. Why did you decide against it?
Lady Cassandra van Cane: I deliberately chose not to have such a list because almost everyone else does. And does a list like that really define the qualifications of a good dominatrix? I do not think so.
Working as a dominatrix requires a certain range of abilities as a given. What I considered more important was making it clear what I do not offer.
Lady Sas: Can BDSM become addictive? And if so, what can someone do about it?
Lady Cassandra van Cane: From my own experience, I would say yes. I once had a partner who constantly demanded more and more until it became excessive and he started losing touch with reality. BDSM can certainly be an appealing escape from everyday life, but I believe it is important to keep everything in balance. In my opinion, the responsibility lies with the person who recognizes when things are becoming excessive and puts a stop to it. What can you do about it? I think self-reflection is essential, and it is important not to lose sight of reality.
Lady Sas: How do you come up with new ideas? What inspires you?
Lady Cassandra van Cane: I still observe sessions led by Mistress Ariadne and Lady Maat. Both continue to inspire me with new knowledge and countless ideas. I am also fortunate to have very adventurous submissives who give me plenty of room to experiment and develop new concepts.
Lady Sas: Is there a particular training experience that has stayed with you?
Lady Cassandra van Cane: Yes, there are quite a few. I will tell you about the most entertaining one. The funniest experience I remember was training a slave to become a proper dressage pony. The submissive involved was simply hilarious. His absent-minded nature and terrible horse neighing made us laugh so much that it was difficult to stay in character.
Lady Sas: What are your plans for the future?
Lady Cassandra van Cane: In the future, I plan to work primarily as a dominatrix and become a permanent member of the team at Der Keller while giving up my other job. Mistress Ariadne is also working on a major and exciting project, and I intend to support her as much as possible.
Lady Sas: Cassandra, thank you very much for your time.
